Physical Education (P.E.)

Program Description

This In-Person Equestrian Physical Education program provides structured, movement-based instruction designed to promote physical fitness, motor skill development, and active horsemanship through guided riding techniques. Students participate in age-appropriate, in-person lessons in the state of Florida that emphasize proper body mechanics, athletic agility, coordination, and overall physical wellness through sport.

In every session, students receive active instruction in:
  • Mounting and dismounting techniques utilizing core stabilization and safety practices.
  • Correct riding posture, dynamic body alignment, and active balance on a moving mechanism.
  • Equestrian control techniques requiring bilateral coordination — steering, stopping, starting, and maintaining rhythm.
  • Lifelong movement skills through walking, turning, physical obstacle navigation, and introductory patterns designed to enhance stamina and flexibility.
  • Development of sportsmanship, confidence, and teamwork through structured horse-human interactions.

  • Core Strength & Postural StabilityEngaging major muscle groups to maintain balance.
  • Agility & CoordinationNavigating arena patterns and real-time spatial awareness.
  • Flexibility & Range of MotionPromoting joint mobility and fluid physical movement through riding postures.

Instruction is individualized to each student's developmental level and physical abilities. Activities progress as students demonstrate increased physical proficiency while maintaining a strict emphasis on safety, proper technique, and responsible sportsmanship.

All sessions are conducted under direct instructor supervision with mandatory safety equipment, including ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmets, and strictly follow established Florida equestrian safety guidelines.
